What Is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed scheme, overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and administered by the IASME Consortium. It defines a baseline of technical controls that organisations must implement to guard against the most common internet-based cyber threats.

Certification is increasingly a prerequisite for organisations bidding on UK government contracts, particularly those involving the handling of sensitive or personal data.

Scope of Our Certification

Semantic Partners’ Cyber Essentials certification covers our entire IT infrastructure, including:

  • Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
  • Secure configuration of all devices and software
  • Access control and administrative privilege management
  • Malware protection across endpoints
  • Patch management and software update policies

Why It Matters for Our Clients

Knowledge graph and ontology projects frequently involve sensitive enterprise data — organisational structures, financial instruments, clinical records, and personnel information. Cyber Essentials certification gives our clients confidence that we handle their data responsibly and in line with recognised security standards.

For public sector and defence buyers, our certification satisfies the baseline security requirement for supplier engagement, enabling faster procurement cycles.

Maintaining Certification

We renew our Cyber Essentials certification annually, undergoing a fresh assessment each cycle. Our internal security policies are reviewed quarterly to ensure ongoing compliance and to adapt to evolving threats.
